| Bio: | The point of this journal was to be a costuming blog, providing an outlet for my musings on a sometimes all-consuming hobby. But general commentary on my progress in life usually fills up the sewing-free gaps. Ten things to hate about me: 1. I worked as a molecular biologist for more than three years in academia, studying subcellular signaling during pathogenesis. My job stressed me out more than it should have and I took my work incredibly seriously. I loved my coworkers and loved my project and all my hard work was published in early 2007 in a top-tier journal. Now I am a poor grad student. I miss certain aspects of my old life, but the stuff I *don't* miss makes the change more than worth it. 2. I love costume flicks and Bollywood romances and cult comedies and britcoms of any variety. I have the terrible habit of quoting obscure shows and movies at really appropriate times, only to have no one appreciate the line because they don't know what the hell I'm talking about. How do people make it through life without BBC America? 3. My own extended family is extremely large and excessively dysfunctional. I'm marrying into an extended family that is extremely large and excessively Southern. I just hope everyone will be on their best behavior so I don't have to kill anyone and make an example of them. 4. I have a tight-knit nuclear family and a wonderful sister with whom I'm very close. She's much funnier than I am, but I'm wittier. We look nothing alike, except our eyes are the exact same color blue. 5. I love lots of music that, for the most part, no one has ever heard of (at least around here). 6. I'm a trained dancer (13 years of instruction) and very coordinated, but absolute crap at sports. 7. I own a very fluffy and eccentric cat. He was once a stray, but adopted us. He still has a wild streak and will disappear for days before turning up like nothing has happened. 8. I read voraciously and very fast. I can burn through a novel in a few hours. 9. I can trace my family lineage back to the 1300's. 10. I love the 18th century the most for costumes. All other eras I love equally well behind the 1700's. Except the 1830's, during which someone MUST have been on crack. So, yeah. I'm a strange girl. My "Friends" list is both a "Friends" and an "I read this daily" list. If you'd rather not be included, just let me know. If you want to friend me, no need to ask.
